Redheugh Bridge

The current pre-stressed concrete road bridge, the third on the site, was opened on 18 May 1983 by the Princess of Wales; the first crossing here dates from 1871. It carries the A189 across the river west of Newcastle Central Station, on a beam deck rather than an arch or truss.
