The Broadway Bridge

Opened in 1913 and carrying Broadway plus the Portland Streetcar, this is a truss span with a double-leaf "Rall"-type bascule, a lift mechanism that rolls back as it rises. Multnomah County, which owns and maintains it, describes it as the most complicated drawbridge in its inventory to open. It is one of the crossings the county and local guides both list as open to people on foot and on bikes, with protected bike lanes alongside the streetcar and motor traffic.
