Carmnella

In 1892 Carmela Sorrentino, known as Carmnella, ran a cantina serving Neapolitan home cooking and fried pizza; her great-great-grandson Vincenzo Esposito holds the ovens now, six generations on. The business moved in the early 1900s and today trades near the Piazza Garibaldi station rather than in the tourist centro. It was admitted to Le Centenarie, the union of Naples' hundred-year pizzerias, in 2024, bringing that association to thirteen members.
