Dr Johnson's House

Johnson took this townhouse off Fleet Street from 1748 and compiled A Dictionary of the English Language in it, working in the garret above the living floors. The building is roughly 300 years old and stands in the surviving maze of courts and alleys in the City. Ticketed, Monday to Saturday, with slightly later closing in summer; the stairs mean there is no accessible route.
