Palazzo Nicolosio Lomellino

The architect Giovanni Battista Castello, known as Il Bergamasco, built this palace in the 16th century for the Genoese merchant Nicolosio Lomellino. Its other name is Palazzo Podestà. Behind the stucco façade, an atrium, entrance hall and courtyard open one after another onto Strada Nuova. Inside are frescoes by Bernardo Strozzi on the discovery of America, and there are hanging gardens from the 18th century. The city museums list it for special openings rather than regular visiting hours.
