Genoa's Rolli palaces

The Rolli were the Republic of Genoa's official registers of private palaces whose owners could be required to lodge visiting state guests, and the buildings on them now sit under UNESCO protection. The palaces here span a century of patrician building, from the 1530s to the 1670s, and each one also records who ended up owning it: a royal house, the city through a duchess's bequest, the state through a 1958 donation.
