Casa Vicens

Gaudí was thirty when he took the commission from the tile and brick manufacturer Manuel Vicens i Montaner, and he worked on the house from 1883 to 1888, making it his first completed building. The design is markedly more geometric than his later work: symmetrical, rectilinear in plan, and clad in bands of checkered ceramic with jagged projecting balconies. It stayed in private hands until restoration opened it to the public in 2017.
