Schreckenskammer
A plain, hard-wearing brauhaus by the Ursulaplatz with a long history and a name that translates as the chamber of horrors. Its Kölsch is brewed at Früh under the Lohnsud arrangement, by which Cologne breweries lend out their kettles for the smaller brands, and it does not appear in bottles. Which is why Cologne drinkers keep noting its absence whenever the city counts its 24 Kölsch varieties.
