Typhoon Bilis (2000)
Still at peak intensity, Bilis came ashore on the coast of southern Taiwan at 1400 UTC on 22 August, with winds reported at 161 mph. It then made a brief track over the Taiwan Strait before a final landfall on China's Fujian Province early the next day. Two NASA instruments imaged the storm's rain and wind fields on 21 August as it bore down on Taiwan, and considerable damage followed in both Taiwan and China.
