Typhoon Faxai (2001)
Moving west-northwestward at a very slow pace, the storm damaged crops near Pingelap and then brought winds and rainfall that set off two landslides on Pohnpei on 20 December. Preparations were ordered in the Mariana Islands, including a declared state of emergency on Guam. Swells generated by Faxai caused rip currents that drowned a man in Guam, and total damage across the affected areas reached $1 million.
