Insulaner

Finished in 1951, this is the textbook version of a Berlin rubble hill: debris brought in by provisional rail, piled up, then planted and turned into parkland. The Wilhelm Förster Observatory went up on the summit in 1963, with a planetarium nearby, so the highest point in Schöneberg is a working astronomical station. A minigolf course and an open-air pool sit at the foot, and the slope is used for sledging in winter.
