Hurricane Igor (2010)
The system originated from a broad area of low pressure that moved off the western coast of Africa on 6 September 2010. Explosive intensification on 12 September took it to Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, and it gradually weakened before brushing Bermuda as a minimal hurricane on 20 September. It became the most destructive storm on record to strike the Canadian island of Newfoundland.
