Hurricane Frances (2004)
Frances was the second of four Atlantic hurricanes to affect Florida during the 2004 season, and it also struck the Bahamas and other parts of the southeastern United States. It was the first hurricane since 1866 to impact the entire archipelago of the Bahamas, and it brought hurricane conditions to the central and northwestern Bahamas, southeastern Florida and the adjacent Atlantic. Crossing the warm Gulf Stream it moved at only 5 to 10 mph, and with an eye roughly 80 miles across the centre of its circulation stayed off the Florida coast for about 24 hours before moving ashore at Hutchinson Island on September 5 as a Category 2.
