Café Hoppe

It has been on the Spui since 1670 and started out as a distillery, so jenever is still the main drink. The front is standing room only with sawdust on the floor, and the other side has seats, dark panelling and stained glass. It is said to sell more beer per square metre than anywhere else in the city. Every June it holds a Herring Party for the first catch of the season.
