Ksudach, 1907
The explosive sequence of on or around 28 March fell into four phases, the first of which opened the vent and spread about 0.02 km3 of pyroclastic fallout inside the Ksudach caldera. Pyroclastic flows of roughly 0.15 km3 covered some 115 km2, followed by surges of about 0.2 km3 whose deposits reach across 160 km2, and the final phase produced shallow hydromagmatic explosions with five surge deposits to the west-northwest. Part of Shtyubel' Volcano was destroyed, leaving a tuff cone with a horseshoe-shaped crater 1.5 km across. Ash carried into the atmosphere was transported by the jet stream, and North America east of the Rocky Mountains was left unseasonably cold.
