Zum Scharfen René
René Kachlir built the place around heat: sausages come graded by chilli strength for whoever wants to test themselves, which put the stand sixth in the Falstaff vote and back on the ballot for the 1000things awards. Kachlir was also one of the three operators behind the campaign that got Viennese Würstelstand culture onto Austria's national UNESCO list in 2024. The kiosk sits on the traffic island at Schwarzenbergplatz, with standing room outside and nothing indoors.
