Salzburger Landestheater

The festival's first opera performance happened here rather than in any of the purpose-built halls: Don Giovanni on 14 August 1922, conducted by Richard Strauss, as a guest production of the Vienna State Opera. It remains a working repertory house with the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg in the pit, and the festival still programmes it. Four storeys under a round roof.
