Olympiapark
Laid out on the Oberwiesenfeld for the 1972 Summer Olympics and still run by Olympiapark München GmbH, a holding company owned outright by the city, the park covers 0.85 square kilometres. The current bid concept would return roughly half of all Olympic sports to this one site, with travel time from the Olympic Village under thirty minutes for 90 percent of venues. The Olympiastadion inside it, cut from 69,000 to just above 63,000 seats after security work at the end of the 1990s, has been used almost exclusively for cultural events since the Allianz Arena opened in 2005, and would take selected football group games.
