Staff canteens that let the public in

Newspapers, opera houses, theatres and architecture offices in Berlin all feed their employees at subsidised prices, and a number of those kitchens sell the same lunch to anyone who finds the door. Menus run to one or two dishes at a fixed price, served across a narrow window and then finished for the day. Rules of entry differ by building: some ask nothing at all, others expect you to sign in at a reception desk first.
