Cyclone Ockhi (2017)
Ockhi strengthened from a depression to a mature cyclone while moving across Sri Lanka, South India and the Maldives. Near Kanyakumari on the mainland it changed course and intensified as it headed toward Lakshadweep in the Arabian Sea. It struck those islands on 2 December, uprooting coconut trees and damaging houses, power lines and other infrastructure. At least 550 people were left missing, mainly fishermen.
