Cyclone Chapala (2015)
Chapala developed in the very warm waters of the Arabian Sea west of India on 28 October 2015. It skirted the Yemeni island of Socotra on 1 November, where one resident was killed and 100 homes destroyed, and it brushed the northern coast of Somalia, killing tens of thousands of animals and wrecking 350 houses. Conditions were less favourable afterwards but the storm held much of its intensity as it entered the Gulf of Aden on 2 November. Yemen's president ordered a special operations room to track its progress and issue alerts to coastal residents.
