Cyclone Hudhud (2014)
Hudhud began as a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal and was named on 8 October after strengthening into a cyclone. Favourable conditions allowed rapid intensification, and it made landfall on Visakhapatnam on 12 October at peak intensity with a minimum central pressure of 950 mbar. Strong winds shattered glass, uprooted trees and poles, and threw debris across roads. Combined damage across India and Nepal reached 11 billion 2014 US dollars.
