Burlington Arcade
Cut in 1818 through the side garden of Burlington House on the order of George Cavendish, 1st Earl of Burlington, the arcade runs 196 yards from Piccadilly to Burlington Gardens, parallel to Bond Street. It is still patrolled by beadles, a private force kept on since the arcade opened, and remains a through route rather than a building with an admission desk. Thor Equities and Meyer Bergman bought it for £104 million in 2010 and brought in Michael Blair to restore it; David and Simon Reuben paid £300 million for it in 2018.
