Freeman House

Samuel and Harriet Freeman were a young bohemian couple with far less money than the Ennises or Alice Millard, and they kept the house as an artistic and political salon for more than sixty years. Wright had not resolved the concrete block system when he built it: on a steep Hollywood Hills lot, the structure had problems from the start and the fabric has been in poor condition for decades. The corner windows are usually cited as the forerunner of the post-war Case Study glazing, though from Glencoe Way the elevation is as windowless and closed as the Millard House.
