Ennis House

The last and largest of the four Los Angeles textile block houses, assembled from more than 27,000 interlocking pre-cast blocks set on a concrete platform above Los Feliz. Charles and Mabel Ennis pushed the design toward the decorative taste of their period, which is part of why it photographs as a Maya palace and has appeared on screen more than eighty times. The 1994 Northridge earthquake and the rains of 2005 both did damage; the house was bought and fully restored by Ron Burkle and remains private, with no public access.
