Hurricane Patricia (2015)
Patricia grew out of a sprawling disturbance near the Gulf of Tehuantepec and was classified as a tropical depression on 20 October. It went from tropical storm to Category 5 in 24 hours, a near-record pace, then weakened sharply late on 23 October before coming ashore near Cuixmala, Jalisco, with winds of 150 mph (240 km/h). Over the mountainous terrain of Mexico it fell apart faster than it had built.
