Hurricane Otis (2023)
Otis was a compact but very powerful cyclone that made landfall just west of Acapulco at Category 5 intensity, the first Pacific hurricane on record to come ashore at that strength. Its winds severely damaged many of the buildings in the city. Several agencies estimated total damage at US$12 to 16 billion in 2023 dollars.
