Hurricane Marie (2014)
Marie developed an eye on 24 August and intensified quickly, attaining Category 5 status at 18:00 UTC that day with winds of 160 mph (260 km/h) and a barometric pressure of 918 mbar. It was the first Pacific hurricane to reach that strength since Celia in 2010. The centre stayed well away from land throughout, but the storm's size raised surf from southwestern Mexico north to southern California.
