Fondazione Querini Stampalia

The foundation has occupied Palazzo Querini Stampalia since Giovanni Querini Stampalia left it to the city in 1869, and between 1961 and 1963 Scarpa reworked its ground floor, entrance and garden for the then director Giuseppe Mazzariol, who had been his co-adviser to Mario Botta. His work is the part most people come for: the travertine screen in the main ground-floor room, the channelled water and the fountain in the walled garden behind. The library and museum are open to visitors on a ticket, Tuesday to Sunday.
