Opened in 1906 by Jerónimo Podestá, one of the founding figures of Argentine theatre, and bought in 1910 by Pascual Carcavallo, who turned it into what was called the cathedral of the género chico criollo. It has been working on the same stretch of Corrientes ever since, now with large-cast commercial drama: Javier Daulte's stage version of Secreto en la montaña, with Benjamín Vicuña and Esteban Lamothe.
