The theatres of Buenos Aires' Avenida Corrientes

Corrientes is the street Buenos Aires goes to for a show, and the houses on it are not interchangeable: a 3,000-seat barn from 1937, a 1906 stage that once called itself the cathedral of the género chico criollo, a 1930 Art Deco front by Jorge Kálnay, and a four-room complex that can run four different plays on the same night. Two of the six are commercial complexes rather than single auditoriums, which is how the avenue keeps its lights on.
