Estadio Azteca

Opened in 1966 in Santa Úrsula, south of Mexico City, and the home of Club América and the Mexican national team. It staged the 1970 and 1986 finals and on 11 June 2026 became the first ground to host World Cup matches in three separate tournaments, opening the competition with Mexico against South Africa. Its concourses and hospitality areas are narrower than those of the newer venues, which is part of why the final went elsewhere.
