Altes Museum
Karl Friedrich Schinkel built it between 1823 and 1830 as the first exhibition building on the Museumsinsel, set directly opposite the royal palace and beside the cathedral; the Staatliche Museen call it the birthplace of all public museums in Berlin. It holds the Antikensammlung, archaeological objects primarily from ancient Greece and Rome, among them the so-called Aphrodite Heyl. Tickets for it are sold individually or within the Museum Island pass.
