Alte Nationalgalerie
Friedrich August Stüler's classicist building is the Nationalgalerie's 19th-century house: Romanticism, Realism and Impressionism, with Caspar David Friedrich's The Monk by the Sea of 1808 to 1810 among the holdings. It is the one museum on an island otherwise given over to antiquities that shows European painting. The structure is listed as a Baudenkmal by the Berlin monuments authority.
