Museum für Völkerkunde Dresden
The ethnographic museum occupies the Japanisches Palais, which was badly damaged in the bombing of Dresden in 1945 and restored in stages from 1951 to 1987. It is one of three sites in the Staatliche Ethnographische Sammlungen Sachsen, with Leipzig and Herrnhut, and shares the palace with the state prehistory museum and the Senckenberg natural history collections. The museum is among the institutions named in Proveana, the German Lost Art Foundation's provenance research database. Admission is paid; step-free access covers the ground-floor exhibition areas.
