The central square of Bruges, about a hectare, and the ground floor of the film's tower sequence: Ray sits out the Belfry climb on a bench placed on the square for the shoot, and Ken and Harry later meet at a bar near the tower. Shooting ran from 2 February to 28 March 2007 with the story set in December, so shopkeepers and the city were asked to keep Christmas decorations up past the season.
