Heinrich-Heine-Straße
This was one of the Wall's largest checkpoints, and much of the divided city's goods and mail passed through it. The street took the poet's name only in 1960. It began as Neanderstraße, a private road on the premises of manufacturer George Christian Neander. Little of the crossing is left: the site of today's large car dealership belonged to the control area for decades, and a History Mile marks the section between Moritzplatz/Prinzenstraße and Brückenstraße.
