LANXESS arena
Peter and Gottfried Böhm's arena went up in 26 months and opened in 1998 as the Kölnarena, a 42-metre dome that Cologne still calls the Henkelmännchen. At 19,250 seats it is the largest of the six venues and carries the heaviest share of the draw: two main round groups and then every knockout match, quarter-finals through to the final on 31 January 2027, nineteen games in all. Lifts and adapted toilets serve the whole building and wheelchair places are set in the lower tier, though the arena floor itself cannot be reached by chair.
