Zeche Zollverein

The pit was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2001, and Zollverein now carries the route's central visitor centre with its Portal der Industriekultur. The grounds are open all year without charge; guided tours run from 4 to 15 euros depending on length and are booked at the Besucherzentrum Ruhr on the site. The inscription is filed under World Heritage reference 975, on criteria (ii) and (iii).
