Kokerei Zollverein

The route's own guide records this as the most modern coking plant in Europe when it was working, and it was added to the World Heritage inscription together with the mine at the end of 2001. The installations survive largely intact, with the white and black sides still legible across the site and the Sonnenrad big wheel standing inside the coke oven battery.
