Crofton Roman Villa
Few Roman villas have been found in Greater London. Most are in the south east, part of a line of villas that runs on into Kent, and Crofton is one of them. It began as a small farmhouse in the 100s CE. As its owners grew wealthier they added rooms with underfloor heating and wall paintings, and possibly a mosaic. Much of the building survives, and the London Borough of Bromley looks after the site.
