City Wall at Vine Street
This section of the wall around Londinium was built between 190 and 230 AD and stood 4 to 6 metres high. Workshops, homes and warehouses built up around it over the centuries, and it was not rediscovered until 1979. Unusually, it has none of the medieval repairs seen on other surviving stretches. It is a scheduled monument, kept where it was built, and has been open to the public in the basement of Emperor House since summer 2023.
