Gumpendorfer Straße
Wagner's station here dates from 1898 and stands on the Gürtel line of the Stadtbahn, now served by the U6. Wartime bombing and later planners did less damage here than on the U4. When a planned branch from Westbahnhof to Penzing was dropped, a connecting curve from Gumpendorfer Straße towards Meidling-Hauptstraße was added to the plans instead. Between Stadtbahn arches 4 and 5 nearby, the start of an extension towards Matzleinsdorf was built in advance.
