St Alfege Church, Greenwich
The Greenwich church is one of the six Hawksmoor designed single-handed for the Fifty New Churches commission, and the one where his octagonal lantern scheme was turned down. He kept the idea and used it on another of the six, so the rejected drawing survives in built form elsewhere in London rather than here. A note on the map pin: open map data offered a close but not exact match for this place, so the marker may sit slightly off. If it looks wrong, please flag this entry so it can be checked.
