Jardines del Pedregal
Barragán began planning this subdivision in 1945 on the lava field left by the eruption of the Xitle volcano some 2,000 years ago, bordered by the archaeological sites of Copilco and Cuicuilco. He worked the terrain before he sold it, setting walls and planting into the rock at a spot known as El Cabrío, and financed the venture with land he had bought on Calzada Madereros. He designed only one house here himself, the Prieto López, plus a show house on Avenida de las Fuentes with Max Cetto; most of the lots went to other architects, Francisco Artigas alone building more than fifty. A note on the map pin: open map data offered a close but not exact match for this place, so the marker may sit slightly off. If it looks wrong, please flag this entry so it can be checked.
