Frank W. Thomas House

Built in 1901, this is generally read as the first house in Oak Park where Wright assembled the whole Prairie vocabulary at once rather than testing pieces of it: horizontal massing, a low hipped roof with deep eaves, and an entrance pushed to the side and reached by an arched passage. It was added to the National Register in 1972 and contributes to the Frank Lloyd Wright-Prairie School of Architecture Historic District. A private residence, so it is a facade to be studied from Forest Avenue.
