Zuiderbad
Jonas Ingenohl built this in 1897 for a bicycle importer, and the Velox cycling school had it before swimmers did: it opened as a pool on 23 March 1912, pushed by surgeon Otto Lanz on public-hygiene grounds. Covered, on the corner of Hobbemastraat and Hobbemakade diagonally behind the Rijksmuseum, with lane swimming, recreational hours and lessons for all ages. A rijksmonument since 1996 and restored from 1999 under Bertus Mulder, which kept much of the original interior and the 1912 sand filter still sitting in the cellars. There is a brasserie on site with wifi.
