Hôtel van Eetvelde

Designed in 1895 for Edmond van Eetvelde, the administrator of the Congo Free State, and finished around 1900 to 1901. Horta used exposed steel and glass in a private house, which was still an unusual choice in Belgium at the time, and the octagonal winter garden under its glazed dome is the part he himself called the most daring thing he had done. The building is private, with visits limited to a few days a week and included in the Brussels Art Nouveau Pass.
