The one entry on the EU list inside the Old City walls. Jerusalem Story's survey dates the settlement neighbourhood to 1968 and describes it as the core of the Inner Ring, connected outward by roads and tunnels as far as Gilo to the southeast and the Atarot industrial zone to the north; the Maghariba and Sharaf neighbourhoods stood on part of the ground. The quarter was among the Jewish localities depopulated in the 1947 to 1949 war and rebuilt after 1967.
