Kino International

Josef Kaiser built it on Karl-Marx-Allee between 1961 and 1963 as the GDR's premiere house, with a foyer, meeting rooms, club and library wrapped around the single screen. Eighteen months of work under Dickmann Richter Architekten returned the façade and the wood, stone and terrazzo interiors before it reopened in February 2026, in time to take Berlinale screenings again. Doors open 30 minutes before the first screening; access is partial, with an accessible toilet on site.
